Factory Opening in Arklow on 09/11/2013

Gaines (Europe) Limited has manufactured ‘Pet Treats’ in Ireland since 1995, utilising extrusion and moulding technologies. 100% of production is exported to North America, Europe and Australia.

Exports in 2012 were €6.5m and are expected to be €8.2m in the current year. The business employs 70 people at its Arklow factory.

In November 2011 the business was acquired by Rondo Food GmbH. This German parent group is a major private label supplier to the European retail sector. The Irish business will continue to trade as Gaines (Europe) Limited. Rondo Food is the leading supplier of private label dog treats in Europe. Petfood is a highly dynamic industry, growing 5% annually.

The company has committed to employ an additional 15 staff over the next three years. The new facility is of a very high standard and will serve ‘long haul’ global markets from Australia to the USA.
The jobs will be created predominantly in the Engineering, Development and Product Manufacturing functions, all located in Arklow.
